Moving into my first “big girl” apartment has been a big milestone in my life. It was a hard decision to leave my old humble home (room tour photos here) but it feels incredible to have a place that’s all my own. I have space to grow and an office to help focus on my blog and YouTube channel, which is truly incredible. Plus, I got to stay in Williamsburg, in fact I moved literally 500ft / 150 meters from my old place. (Chair, West Elm)
It’s been so fun to work on new projects to breathe life into the apartment which has ugly quirky grey tile throughout every room. My first stop for finding awesome decor inspiration and DIY ideas was of course Pinterest, and with my shiny new Samsung Galaxy Tablet it’s even easier to work on projects all over the apartment. I decided to start with the first project you see on my Pinterest board: painting the mats inside my IKEA Ribba frames to add color to the walls. Here’s the original blog post from “Little House Blog.” I bought 4 paint samples from Home Depot for about $3 each. It was a really easy project especially after painting lots of Ikea furniture (more to come on that) so painting the paper mats was a piece of cake. I put down a blue tar (also from Home Depot) that’s perfect for all my painting projects.
I love having the Samsung tablet for easy access to my Pinterest board and DIY blog posts. Also, the sweatshirt I’m wearing in this photo is currently on sale at Old Navy for $6!
