I found this kitsch American Apparel tee when I was out shopping in Soho and I knew I had to have it. I love little New York tee-shirts (much to the chagrin of ‘real New Yorkers’) and this one really caught my eye. The Big Apple might not be quite as romantic as the City of Lights, but it has an old-school charm and a jaded kind of love you can’t quite shake. When I think of New York Romance, my mind immediately goes to the Season 4 episode of Sex and the City where Big and Carrie take a horse-drawn carriage ride in Central Park. But when I really think about it, the moment I find most romantic in that episode is when they dance in Big’s empty apartment to “Moon River” over a few boxes of pizza. That’s real New York love. It always has a sense of humor.
