For Middle School and High School I went to Catholic school and wore a uniform every day. In many ways I hated wearing a uniform all the time, but I do think in retrospect that uniforms can help create a safe and focused school environment. Plus, it made me really creative with my accessories. For example, when our school told us we could only wear earrings smaller than quarters, my friends and I painted nickels and dimes and wore them proudly on our ears. In college I felt equally free and terrified about what to wear everyday. Now that I’m a big girl, I’m constantly drawing the line between young working professional and 20-something Brooklynite blogger. I found this blazer at a thrift shop back home in Lexington, Kentucky. I loved the oversized feel, gold shiny buttons, and of course the traditional schoolboy emblem. To keep it fresh and show a little skin on a highly unusual warm day in the midst of a freezing winter (no joke, it was 50º F / 10º C) I added my LBD of the moment from Lulu*s and my long-loved J.Crew leopard May Janes. I have literally had those pony-hair wonders since I was a Junior in High School. For an extra touch of Schoolboy, I added my oversized Rose Gold Carvelle watch. And to top it all off, my favorite new Mac Lipstick in Lady Danger.
